Guest guest
25 years ago, when I was just starting up, I used the Welcome Wagon for a few years. The payoff was directly related to the enthusiasm of the person who actually did the visits. The first year, we had a very enthusiastic, hyper-gregarious Welcome Wagon Lady, who was so bubbling with enthusiasm that she drove many patients to the practice. The second year, the person who did the greetings was more reserved, and we got minimal results. So, my advice would be to interview the actual person who will be making the visits, and see if she (I think it is still predominantly a female job) is impressed with your practice, and if you would pay money to have her represent you. The other service, dredged from the bowels of my memory, was the Newcomer’s Club. This was similar to Welcome Wagon, but the new residents would meet at someone’s house for a “party” and share experiences, needs, successes, and failures in adjusting to a new neighborhood. The person who would organize it would provide flyers and information from local businesses. This is the sort of situation where if someone at the party was already a patient and liked your practice, you could get lots of new business. I don’t know if Newcomer’s Club is still around, but the concept makes sense. Befriending the local pharmacist, and leaving flyers at the pharmacy has always paid off well for me, and joining a local service organization like Rotary or Kiwanis is a good way to get know in the community. dts From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Locke's in Colorado Sent: Saturday, July 12, 2008 10:42 AM To: Subject: Welcome Wagon --> RE: Obtaining Home Sales Addresses Interesting thought, Pedro. Guest guest
Thanks for the feedback, Pedro. The group has had this discussion many times -- and all agree that the best new patients are by word of mouth. We all agree that we are a little befuddled on how to create this word of mouth, however...at least how to do it consistently. Guest guest
Totally agree about knowing realtors. One my best supporters added a 2 line thing at the bottom of her ad about my practice!
