Question regarding controlling excessive drool

Hey guys,

Brie is 3 months old and is having trouble managing her saliva. She has

bilateral PMG that I suspect is Bilateral Perisylvian Polymicrogyria but I don't

have the official type yet. I do know that she has bilateral PMG that involves

the perisylvian areas. Anyway, she has trouble coordinating her suck and swallow

and since she seems to be making more saliva lately she has begun to start

getting choked on it.

Does anyone have any experience with this in a young infant and if so, what have

you tried? Any successes?

Thanks!

My son who is six also has bilateral perisylvian PMG. We have used Robinul

to control his saliva and had great success with it. Before meds we would

be changing shirts/bibs constantly, with the meds, maybe once or twice if he

is really tired (he tends to drool more when he forgets/tired). Robinul is

usually used for ulcers in the stomach but one of the side effects is drying

up the system. The only thing you have to really watch is possibly

constipation.

Hope this helps.
