Guest guest
Hi , and list-mates, I found this article on the ketogenic diet that I thought might be helpful to those with kids who have refractory seizures: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Wellness/ketogenic-diet-high-fat-diet-treat-seizure\ s/story?id=13366995 & page=2 It looks like a version of the Atkins diet...hard for kids to maintain (VERY low carb intake, something like only 10 g. a day) but certainly better than the liquid diet!! Guest guest
We just started this last week with Maureen. It's very interesting stuff. Very strict, so it's actually easier to implement in g-tube kids. It does involve a hospital stay at the beginning for monitoring. Ideally, one can back off the dosage, or even eliminate the medications. I'll keep y'all in loop!
