Hi , and list-mates,

I found this article on the ketogenic diet that I thought might be helpful to

those with kids who have refractory seizures:

It looks like a version of the Atkins diet...hard for kids to maintain (VERY low

carb intake, something like only 10 g. a day) but certainly better than the

liquid diet!!

We just started this last week with Maureen. It's very interesting stuff. Very

strict, so it's actually easier to implement in g-tube kids. It does involve a

hospital stay at the beginning for monitoring. Ideally, one can back off the

dosage, or even eliminate the medications. I'll keep y'all in loop!
