Guest guest
Thanks. I am a bit overwhelmed by all the choices. What does my ten month old really need? He does not sit on his ow, He has some neck control and keeps getting stronger in the neck. He won't roll, but he can. I have a very good high chair that does the job. It has pretty good support and the head are is well padded. He looks comfortable. He could sit a little higher, but in a 1-2 months he will be taller. I am looking into a good double stroller. I may have to have one altered for him because I still need a double. Any double stroller suggestions. I will look into a special stroller for him, when my oldest no longer needs a stroller. How much space do the special strollers/wheel chairs take. We are considering a new vehicle and want to consider his future needs. I have a Tumble form on loan. We also have a chair made by a local therapist like a Tumble form made out of cardboard. It is impressive! However, when we move in May I have to return them. Is there anything you all could not live without? How about bathing devices? My son is outgrowing his bath chair. It uses his baby chair. Has anyone used a Pinguin? I want to make requests and place orders soon. We move from DC to Washington mid May. I want to make sure I have what he needs. who knows how long it will take to re-establish services. Thank you for your help. All this is new and overwhelming. I want to make the right choices and maximize benefits. He does not sit stroller, but from what I've seen, it's probably about the same size and weight, just shaped differently. It DOES collapse, but it's such a pain to collapse, that most of the time, I just fold down the handle and throw in in the back of the car. We only collapse it if we're tight on space, like going to the airport, and have suitcases. We do use it inside, but I do have to keep an eye on the wheels. I purposely got the wheels that are more like street bike tires. They had the option of tires that are more like dirt bike tires, but I figured that'd just get more dirt stuck in them. The brand is KidCart, if you want to do an image search. She's had it since she was about 9 months, she's about to turn 3, and they said she'd have it for another year or two. Pluses are, it handles really well, it's easily steered with one hand, minuses, it's super heavy and not very easy to collapse. > And, not for nothing, like I mentioned, it does tend to open some doors in places that aren't super stroller-friendly. We were at the Georgia Aquarium and the employees were super helpful in showing us through things. Some airlines are no longer allowing you to take your big strollers all the way up to the gate, but wheelchairs are ok. It also qualified us for HC parking tags, which, I won't lie, is a nice little silver lining to the situation we're all in. > I had a Tumble Form chair on loan when we lived in Houston, but had to give it back when we moved. I've been told, but haven't really investigated, that it would be hard to be approved for a Tumble Form, since we have the stroller, since Medicaid thinks of both of them as " seating " and thinks it's redundant to have both. > Best of luck. > > To: polymicrogyria > From: kimat401@... > Date: Thu, 9 Feb 2012 22:00:38 -0500 > Subject: Re: Stroller > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Is it bigger and heavier than a jogging stroller? Do you use it in your home? I am wondering if it would be handy to use as a seat for my guy. He can't yet sit up, he's almost 15 months, and sometimes I'd love to have a seat to just set him in so I'm not just dumping him on the floor or in his high chair so i can change laundry or do the dishes. You know what I mean? > > > > I am learning all the time. The tombstone will be my diploma. > > Eartha Kitt > > > > > > > >> Oh no, we push it. It's more like a stroller in that way, but it has supports and padding measured just for our kid. We use it pretty much everywhere now. They are big and heavy and bulky, but it does lead to a lot more understanding from strangers. > >> > >> Carseat: we used regular britax marathon until just recently, Maureen is about to turn 3, and just got the britax special needs seat. > >> > >> Medicaid covered both, the carseat took about 3 months to go through paperwork phase. > >> > >> Sent from my iPhone > >> > >> > >> > >>> When we went to wheelchair services to be fitted for my sons gait trainer thy showed us a mini wheelchair and explained all the other options available for seating. It was very helpful. If you have such a department at your hospital or medical center see about getting in touch with them. Lots of things available for babies and kids. We were pretty amazed. > >>> > >>> As for the mini wheelchair, when did you use it? They asked if we wanted them to start the approval process with insurance for one but we didn't think it would be useful. But since then I've been running into situations where it may be handy and kind of kicking myself. Was your child able to operate it? Thanks!! > >>> > >>> I am learning all the time. I have researched all the strollers in the market, but cannot find one to meet all of our needs. We also have a 2.5 yr old who loves to walk, but still gets tired. And, I would like to use it to exercise since I can't take our little one to the gym with me. Not sure if my 9.5 month old needs a special stroller. He is not sitting up yet. Any suggestions??
