Hi all,

My daughter has seizures which are thankfully controlled with

Trileptal. She also has ADD. We are wondering if there is anyone else

who's child has ADD and is taking any specific medication for this? If

so, have the medications caused any breakthrough seizures?

Thanks,

(mom of Eva, 8, right hemisphere unilateral PMG)

Hi

Our son (7 yrs) has mainly unilateral PMG on his left side (40%). There's a

spot or 2 on his right side as well but hard to determine if its PMG. He is on

3 meds for seizure control. That was always our main focus but 2 yrs ago we

needed to address his ADHD and behavior issues. We tried Intuniv (new ADHD

drug) but it didn't help. Our son has a lot of head banging issues and we saw a

bahavior neurologist @ Boston Childrens (Dr Urion). He is very well known

nationally. He also agreed that he would have used Intuniv first so since that

didn't help he recommeded Effexor (25mg) he is now on 150 Mg once a day in (am).

It has some minor side effects (appetite suppression) It has made a huge

difference for him, from the beginning. Be very cautious with the other ADHD

meds bacause they may increase the threshold for seizures. The effexor works

differently and seems to clear his head and he is so much more attentive and

focused. His school teachers/aids and nurse all agree this med made a big

difference on his progression at school and learning.

Good luck
