Just wanted to let everyone know about my first visit with Dr.

Launius at Affordable Health Care in ville after discovering my

TSH was 10.668 from blood work done at my work health fair.

First I have to say that Dr. Launius is wonderful! The only other

doctor I've ever had spend an hour talking to me about what I was

feeling and what was wrong with me was Dr. Pin, a plastic

surgeon at Baylor in Dallas (and he was getting a lot of $$$ from me

for performing a scar revision.) I only had to wait about 5 minutes

to be called into the room and another 5 minutes before he appeared.

We talked about my concerns from head to toe. He took notes the

whole time on one of those computerized writing tablets. Everything

I said, even things I thought were minor, he made note of. Never did

he make me feel like I was being a whiner or complaining about

nothing. The lab tests that I had done at the health fair were TSH,

T3 Uptake, Total T4 and Free Thyroxine Index (FTI.) He ran a TSH,

Free T4 and Free T3 since all the health fair tests (except for the

TSH) were antiquated and impossible to evaluate. I do not know the

exact values for my Free T4 and Free T3 but his nurse called me 24

hours later to tell me that I definitely have low thyroid and that

Dr. Launius wants to put me on Armour. I didn't even ask him for it

or mention it during our conversation. He's starting me with 90 mcg

(1.5 grains) for 2 weeks and then I will take 180 mcg (3 grains.) He

wants to see me again in 6 to 8 weeks. He also ran a B12 deficiency

test on my blood because my MCV was quite high (108.1.) I should get

those results today. He also noticed that my allergies were bad and

prescribed me Zyrtec and Nasonex to help with that. The only word of

caution is that he talks really fast and at a high level. I think he

could tell that I had educated myself and understood the terminology

he was using. He had no issues with reexplaining the things I didn't

quite understand. He also told me that in a few weeks my skin should

look better, I should be less tired (and have less of a need for Red

Bull), my feet should be less cold, my nails should look better and I

should sleep a lot better. He also said that I should see weight

loss from my exercise regime (I lift weights 3 to 4 times a week and

do at least 3 hours of high intensity cardio a week) but to not

expect it to just melt off overnight. Just wanted you guys to know

about my positive experience and that I would highly recommend Dr.

Launius. Also you might find what he charges useful since he doesn't

accept insurance. My New Patient,High Comprehensive visit was $110

(CareNow charges me $150 for a 5 minute visit to determine that I

have brochitis) and the Vitamin B12 lab was $20, the Free T4 was $15,

the Free T3 was $15 and the TSH was $15 for a total of $175.00.
