Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I hear you loud and clear on the falling asleep thing. I never know if this is part of the dysfunction of the brain or a medication. If he is on any meds, you may want ot monitor and see if any makes him more awake, and then change the time of day given. Otherwise, I think it can be related to brain dysfunction becasue I know when we have switched SSRIs around in the past, sleep cycles and become more regulated. > > Hi all! > I'm new here and was wondering if someone could give me some > suggestions on how to get my son to bed at a descent hour. > My 5 year old son has autism and it seems no matter how tired > he is he wont go to bed untill he's ready, we have a routine every night > he watches a movie or I read books to him then it's bed time, but I > cant seem to get him to sleep before 10pm , he is in school now and he > fights me everyday getting up to go to school, I think he would be > better if he got more sleep, does anyone have any suggestions? > > Thanks, Debbie >

I had to respond to you because I have had MAJOR sleep issues w/my 5 year old daughter (autistic). Melatonin gets her go to sleep right away, EVERY time. I only have to use 1mg although you can use more if needed. I give it to her around 7:45 or so and she is ALWAYS asleep w/in a half hour. I don't know if you've tried it, but it has helped us tremendously. NOTHING happens at my house if we don't get sleep. Hope this helps you.
