Guest guest
If you do a search on lobelia on this gruop, you will see my comments about it. It only took two 00 capsules for me to be dry heaving several times in one day. OOs are the large ones. I haven't thrown up in 27 years, so I am sure in a normal person, it would cause vomiting. When I took the same dose of lobelia with cayenne, there was no vomiting AND it stopped my pain in its tracks. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory. Dawn > > In the digestive tract, Lobelia is a inhibitor/stimulant and appetite suppressant. In small doses it will stop vomiting, but it will generally induce vomiting when taken in very large doses over a very short period of time. Cayenne is generally added with lobelia for this purpose for flushing poisons from the stomach and the bowels. ]

Guest guest
Diane, Sorry I wasn't around last night and hope everything turned out okay!! I find that when I have an actual attack....that making a tea of mullein and lobelia is my life saver. The tincture is great to take on a daily basis...as a preventative measure...or before exercise or some sort of exertion or something that might trigger an attack. I have tried it to ease attacks and it does ease it to a point but not completely. I would still have to breathe my way through the balance of an attack. Cleansing breaths...in through the nose...out through the mouth...I find if I close my eyes and envision my lungs expanding...feeling each breath...also holding my arms above chest level so as to allow my ribs to raise off of the lungs to give them the opportunity to truly intake the air...and yes...I realize asthma is not the lungs but the bronchii (or however it is spelled! lol)...but it does really help to visualize things in this manner. Do this for a few minutes and you will realize that the tightness you feel from the attack is gone. This is, of course, good for smaller attacks...and I have found it helps to ease a stronger attack as well...if nothing else to calm you down enough from the panic that occurs with severe loss of breath...to be able to allow yourself to breathe. I highly recommend adding some mullein to that lobelia tincture if you are using a tincture. If not, get loose mullein and add it to the lobelia...and maybe get some licorice root...makes a wonderfully delicious tea and together will knock out an asthma attack in a hot tea in no time flat!
