Hi ,

We are about to do another session of constraint induced therapy and I have to

say, it has done wonders for us. We started doing it when Ruby was 2 yrs old,

for a week at a time (since she has PMG on her right hemisphere she was unable

to hold anything). She is now 4 1/2 and we keep trying to do it every 4 months

for a week. She makes very clear progress after we do it- cognitively as well as

physical. It seems to really force the weaker side to work and for her brain to

think differently. Its just harder to do as she gets older because it really

makes everything a challenge.

We see an amazing hand therapist at the NY Joint Disease hospital who makes her

constraint cast out of this thin perforated plastic that they heat up and mold

on the arm so its comfortable in the summer. We have a removable arm cast so

that she can take it off at the end of the day for her bath, etc. I know there

are ranges of sizes that they make, for us we needed the full arm otherwise Ruby

would find a way to pull it off.

Please feel free to ask any questions- but I think if you are curious, you

should definately give it a shot!

Thanks!

Ruby, 4 right PMG, Clyde,8
