Guest guest
Hi , Like Riley, also had his submandibular glands removed, one of his parotid glands ligated and his sublingual glands removed. We did try some medications, but didn't like that wasn't able to let us know how the medications were making him feel (and also didn't like the idea of having to medicate him long-term) We also allowed the neurologist to do 2 rounds of botox injections. This was before the report was released warning of the dangers of botox injections in children with disabilities. ( you can search the list archives for more info. on this) After it was apparent that the drooling was not only impacting socially in school, but also very upsetting to him when he recognized he was wet, we decided to opt for the surgery. The surgery has made a huge difference for . He is still plenty wet for eating purposes and will even drool on occassion when he is hyper-focused on an activity (like writing) or when he is really congested. Like all decisions related to our kids, you have to decide what is best for Micah and your family, but I can tell you without hesitation that this was one of the best decisions we could have made for . If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Best, Krista
Guest guest
cristina goes through 15 bibs per day. All she does is drool. She is 5 years old and it is getting worse. Has anyone tried the surgery to stop the drooling. We have tried oral medications prescribed by our neurologist and it actually increased the drooling. I have an appt. net week with her neurologist and was going to inquire about surgry.
