Hi all -

I'd like to find good info for a mom who has a

'normal' son in 5th grade who is only reading at a 1st

grade level. School says he has LD, reading delay,

and language ... mom at this time cannot give me more

info than that. He has been in special ed many years.

He does not have ADD, dyslexia, or any other

identified issues per school testing (we know how

thorough that can be). He does not appear to have

behavioral issues. I don't know what kind of language

problem because she doesn't know, and cannot tell

anything is wrong w/his language when speaking to him.

Says he's well behaved well adjusted child - just

having significant problems reading.

My first thought (and I'm completely uneducated in

this!) was remembering discussions re

convergence/visual processing problems. I wanted to

get details on that again if you're out there :)...

I'll also do a search. I don't know enough about the

child yet but she's going to send me copies of what

she has rcvd from the school and maybe that would tell

more.

The child has been referred to a psychologist... I

don't know if that's an educational psychologist or

what... but I just wanted to seek out info for her in

the time being...

I don't like searching out sites and such w/out a

reference since I just don't trust half the 'junk' I

find out there... so if you guys have any favorites

I'd appreciate a referral that I could pass on.

Thanks!
