Guest guest
Dear Kozy.. I have been experimenting with deodorants also...the other day I began using Aubrey Hi-C deodorant roll-on. So far it is a winner. Aubrey's line of body care products were recommended to me by Dr. and others. They are on- line ready to take an order. My shipment arrived in two days without a problem. If I notice any difficulties with this product I will report back. Guest guest
Kozy, I had the same problem with deodorants when I stopped using the ones with metal in them. I've have found a brand that doesn't bother me. I got it at the health food store here in Georgia. It's called Desert Essence Natural Roll-on. I think these " natural " deodorants use salt, which can be irritating. Good luck! Guest guest
Dear Kozy, Why don't you try one of the deodorant mineral sticks that they sell in the health food stores, and sometimes even good supermarkets. One brand is called Thai crystal deodorant stone. There's no aluminum, its made from mineral salts, is hypoallergenic, unscented, and non-staining. You just wet it under water a little and apply it like normal. I'm sure there's other equally good brands, but it should be all natural with no chemicals. Feel better. Guest guest
What about those crystal like stones that they sell to use as deodorants? Has anyone tried them yet? I used one a long time ago, but you had to wet it first and then apply it, so I didn't really like the wet feeling, and gave it up.Does anyone know if it is aluminum free? I will check one tomorrow when I go to the Natural foods Market.. Guest guest
Oh yes..I keep a crystal on hand also....have for years.....but just at home...it's messiness prevents me from wanting to travel with it..and it usually does not do the trick on the tough days....I will continue to use crytal but think I will add the Aubrey's HI-C for the tough days...and travel....it to is a wet.........but good question if the crytal has any aluminum in it....I will be interested in what is found out.... Guest guest
Yes, I tried one (am using it now when I go to workout). I find that it is easier to wet the underarm instead of the crystal. Wetting the crystal is way too messy!! Guest guest
I just bought a new deodrant.... that does not have the anti-perspirant (aluminum) in it. Its called: Crystal Clean deodorant by Lady speed stick. I haven't tried it yet. My rash is clearing up so I'm going to wait another day. Hurrah!!! I am going to try and see if this one works. Guest guest
- I can tell you that this recipe is waaaay too heavy on EOs. The normal dilution rate is about 2.5 percent with a massage oil used once in a while (about 12-15 drops of EO to one OUNCE of product or 30 mls of carrier oils and butters, you have about 43 drops per one ounce in this recipe), and LESS than one half of one percent in anything that is used on the body daily. The suggested safe dilution rate for Rosemary, for example, is one-tenth of one percent, for Lavender it is one-thirtieth of one percent, for Tea Tree there is no data of a safe level for daily use on the skin. This is especially important if you are using it on an area can be irritated from shaving - like an underarm - or that has a lot of body heat and moisture. A dilution this high would be setting her up for sensitization to EOs and that is a very, very ugly thing. Trust me, I know! It can sometimes take years for sensitization issues to manifest, sometimes less time, but it is always ugly and it is for life. Best wishes, and if you need any help with the EO side of this, let me know- Lynda Artemis wrote: >My neighbor stopped by the other day & asked me if I could make her a >deodorant. Guest guest
Over the past seveeral years I have developed my own deodorant. At first I just washed my pits with herbal soap after first putting GSE on the sponge. Now I do the same but after getting out of the bath, I use one drop of rose geranium/lavender EO and smear it around under my arm pits. Seems to work well and feels better than something I don't know anything about. Anne VA USA

At one point you suggested that for a bacterial infection. > Thanks for the thoughts! Hi , Calendula works for bacterial infection by building the body's resistance to bacterial attack - it leaves the bacteria to die by themselves - unlike antibiotics that interfere with bacterial metabolism. So probably not useful as a deodorant as those bacteria are not affecting the skin or body - not an infection. Pity :-))) My big problem would be in finding a base in which to put the items selected - some kind of powder presumably. I'd not want it to have any protein (as grains do) since protein can trigger irritation and allergy. So far I have not experimented mostly for that reason of needing a good base. Guest guest
I have an anti-bacterial cream with calendula in a peanut oil base. It's great for all kinds of little " owies " ;-) Re: deodorants > Hi , > Calendula works for bacterial infection by building the body's > resistance to bacterial attack - it leaves the bacteria to die by > themselves - unlike antibiotics that interfere with bacterial metabolism. > So probably not useful as a deodorant as those bacteria are not > affecting the skin or body - not an infection. > Pity :-)))
