Guest guest
Hi Sharon- Thank you for formally introducing yourself. I remember my dad used to have a 'sweet tooth' as well. He always did like his chocolate and sweets, yet it was ten fold as the LBD progressed. I have always heard that taste buds that detect sugars is the last to go...always seemed to make sense to me. I did notice this to be somewhat true as my dad lived at a NH, in the Alzheimers unit. Many of the residents LOVED their sweets. called this morning and said his mom ate fairly well last evening. LBD, will we ever be able to explain it!! Hopefull, some day, and maybe sooner than later, he and I will be in the same country, at the same residence...yippee!! Hope to hear back from you as well. Also, I want to officially welcome you, since I didn't get the chance when you joined...welcome to a group of friends/family that will always be here for you and never judge you. Hugs- Sandie Des Moines, IA

Guest guest
Oh Sharon, that really sucks! They just dont seem to realise that there is a struggle that involves more than just what we eat when it comes to weight loss. Dont be scared off, please stick with it. I like the idea of a sleeve, I know that I would have that if it were my next step with no hesitation.
Guest guest
Hi Sharon Just going to put my 2c worth in here!!! I've had both the band and am now sleeved and for me the 2 experiences have so far been completely different. I was banded in Oct 07, it was removed due to a slip in Sep 08 and I had my sleeve op in Feb 09. Banded I'd only lost around 10kgs in 11 months, however I'm now down 17kgs in 15 weeks with the sleeve. I no longer have any food intolerances, no more PB'ing, definitely know when I'm full now (which is something I never really experienced with the band as it was either too tight or didn't have enough fill), I very rarely feel real hunger any more and have more get and go than I've had in many years. I don't regret getting the band first and do wish it had been a success for me (I do know a few bandsters who have lost in excess of 65kg with it), but it obviously wasn't meant to be and for me sleeving has finally set me on my way to achieving a healthy weight. I would go back and see Roy as others have suggested as there may be a reason for the lack of weightloss and you may have to look into alternative methods. Good luck and I hope you start to enjoy your journey again soon. Cheers Gail > > Oh Sharon, that really sucks!
