Guest guest
Calvin was nearly blind for the first year of life. His sight has been improving so much, he now has glasses and can see light, when somebody walks by, sparkly toys, etc. We use black light for 15 minutes a day and by toys that really have a strong contrast with black light. This really helps. We also have vision videos for early vision development. We do tracking (hold sparkly object, red light, etc.) and practice. His eyes are also fine, it's the occipital lobe in the brain that has the problem...but it's learning! The eye doctor said she can only see light right now. I was wondering if anyone else's child had this problem and if so did it get any better. Also I was wondering if there is anything I can do to help her eyesight get better. We had her eyes checked out and they are fine. It's just not working right in here brain. le
Guest guest
My son is 2 and has been followed by ophthalmologists since birth since he has a macular coloboma is his left eye (scar tissue inside his eye). We were told at birth that his right eye is normal but his vision is delayed for his age. It has gotten a lot better over the last 2 years and he has been working with a teacher of the visually impaired since he started early intervention at 2 months. She has helped a lot with getting him to track, make eye contact and reach. Is your daughter in early intervention? I would find out what it takes to get her vision services. Our son was diagnosed with cortical vision impairment which alone would qualify him for that service. Has your son seen an ophthalmologist, or preferably a neuro- ophthalmologist? Good Luck!!
