Guest guest
Can someone answer this question below that my friend posted to another board? IgM is for current/active infection. I think (am guessing here, so anyone correct me if I am wrong) Dr. Goldberg at tests the IgM levels if IgG is positive. But from what I have heard, most ASD patients (not all) will only have high IgG for CMV and not IgM. --------------------------------- Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
Dr Goldberg runs both IgM and IgG regularly for CMV, EBV , HHV6 for patients. The two tests for each virus are done together - that way he can see, if IgG are elevated, whether there has been a recent infection as shown by IgM. If, IgM levels are negative (as you mention is usually the case for ASD - or more correctly patients), yet IgG elevated, and particularly if several of these tests over time show the same results, then Dr Goldberg is able to conclude that the immune system is still fighting one of these viruses (or a related virus)in the background. If the IgG levels are dropping, then he might conlcude that the immune system is likely taking better control of itself. hope this helps, --- Rob or Sunseri <RobRose@...> wrote: > Can someone answer this question below that my friend posted to > another board? > IgM is for current/active infection.
