Guest guest
Mine doesn't have a diagnosis of a sleep disorder but has nights/ weeks where he will not sleep. Just last week, he was up for 42 hours straight. I still put him to bed those nights but heard him all through the night playing and turning channles on his tv. He knocked on his door just about all night (we have the safety knobs) wanting to use the bathroom and wanting to get up. After the 42 hours he slept a full night and then was back to being awake again. There is not much I can do for it besides just roll with it and lose just as much sleep as he does. I'm curious to know if any other child does the same thing. Sorry if this wasn't much help. - Sent from my HTC smartphone on the Now Network from Sprint! ----- Reply message ----- To: " polymicrogyria " <polymicrogyria > Subject: sleep disorder Date: Wed, Oct 19, 2011 4:47 pm Do any of your kids have sleep disorders? Guest guest
Definetly! Siera has always only slept a few hours at a time since she was small, even when her seizures are having a break 4 hrs is a huge sleep, this is better now she is older, before 1yr she would normally wake half an hr after going dwn, we cld repeat this process 6 times in a row, she wld always wake even when very tired. Doc gave us sedation to help her sleep, as lack os slp also triggers her seizures so is a vicious circle. I also found playing slp cd, having warm bath before bed helped. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I often wonder if Siera is waking with headaches or nausea as she clealy wants to go bak to sleep, or cld b seizure activity. I average 5hrs slp on a gd nite, can def be hard. Am hoping it will get better as she gets older. -original message- Subject: Re: sleep disorder Date: 20/10/2011 11:22 am Nisha is waking complaining of a headach up for less then 5 min then back to a sound sleep. Guest guest
At 9 mths Emmalee was sleeping an average of 5 hours in a 24 hour period. It was affecting her development which was already delayed. We tried melatonin as well as warm baths music etc. Finally she takes trazadone and clonidine. Not a miracle but allows a few more hours of sleep. We tried weighted blanket but she overheats easily. She does wear weighted vest during play. We still have nights where she is up every hour or up at 3 am for the day but no more 24 hour marathons. Emm has sensory issues we just found out about. She is 2. I have read a lot lately regarding sleep and sensory perception. They have vibrating mattresses or pillows as well as suggesting aromatherapy. I'm sure you are like me and will try nearly anything!! Hang in there! I went from sleeping sitting up in a chair for Emms first year to het being in her bed now so I can lay down!! Prayers!! Guest guest
Wow, didn't know how common this was! My child is 8, and when she was about four, we started melatonin, and when that wasn't enough, added Clonadine (used for high blood pressure, but for years now off label for sleep in kids)....that works as well as we are going to get. Otherwise, she literally would not be sleeping! ( : Thea sleep disorder Date: Wed, Oct 19, 2011 4:47 pm Do any of your kids have sleep disorders? What do you do for it?
