Have you seen the AppShopper app? It's free and narrows down the options by

and filters nicely. I use it to look for free apps for Quinn. This week I

found a new one from Prentke Romich that might fit nicely. The first steps

in using apps or other equipment for communication is getting a child

acclimated to expecting that he or she can effect his or her environment

predictably by using language. Not something most of us have ever had to

consider before! I think the PRC app would work nicely - there are

directions included that talk about language development. We also have

Proloquo2go, which is a bit complicated for Quinn because of his motor

issues. There are also lots of beginning reading apps, some better than

others, that will help kids develop language skills regardless of their

ability to speak.

Babies with iPads is another good resource - just google for the blog, or

look 'em up on facebook.
