Some people have some mighty BIG spanners!!!!

Well tomorrow WAS my B-day.

1.00 today I get a phone call at work from the hospital telling me that

my health fund has advised they will not cover the hospital.

So if i want the op tomorrow....i'd have to pay $9000 up front tomorrow.

Yes you read right $9000!!!

And no i can't pay it after the surgery.

So i've done all this work, paid all this money and the op is

off...indefinitely.

The health fund tried to tell me it was a " pre-existing condition " .

To which my response was " yes i have know i'm fat for quite a

while...but i only started looking into this procedure in the last

couple of months which i can prove "

Then it was some other reason.

So I guess I won't be one of you guys any time soon.

Thanks for all the support and hints and tips. I shall check in at a

later date...when my health fund doesn't suck!

There just aren't enough swear words to express how i'm feeling right

now though

This is the first time I have ever heard of a health fund doing this.

Which one are you with? Did you give you doctor a call to see what was

happening? Oh my goodness I am so sorry that this has happened to you.

I tell you... I am seething at the moment on your behalf! How dare a health fund wait until the eve of a surgery to pull the rug from under someone. I have never heard of this happening to someone going in for a band. It absolutely is astounding!!!!

I am with HCF. Before they said it was a pre existing condition they

tried to tell me it was cosmetic!!!! Cosmetic??!!!! Are they freakin

crazy!!!!

It's probably my own fault I should have checked long before now but

the doctors kept telling me that the hospital would take care of

everything...well they sure did!!!!

We were actually considering paying the $9000 but to give me less than

24 hours notice to come up with the money is a bit beyond any normal

persons capabilities.

I " ve calmed down now....i'm looking at it as it just wasn't meant to be

at this point i guess. I guess i'll wait til Feb to see if its still

what i want.

I'm going to try and continue on Optifast but not so rigidly to see if

i can budge some weight on my own.
