Guest guest
The other day I was at our local library and a new book caught my eye... It is called " Understanding and Managing Your Child's Food Allergies " (A s Hopkins Press Health Book) by H. Sicherer. Dr. Sicherer is an Assistant Professor (Pediatric Allergy & Immunology) at Mt. Sinai Medical Center. The book is a s Hopkins Press Health Book. I was RIVETED reading this book. It would be a great one to request for your local library. The book is mainly focused on anaphylactic IgE reactions, but there is plenty that people will be interested in. I wish Dr. Sicherer " got " the connection between autism and food, but he's not there yet. Nevertheless, this book is an excellent resource if you are interested in understanding IgE reactions to food. I have a much better grasp on the mechanics of food allergies than I did before. This book provides an immense amount of information regarding food allergies, testing, and case studies. It is very readable and I love the format... a little info, then a case study to illustrate the point. The author is like the Sherlock Holmes of food allergies... he is brilliant at figuring out mysterious reactions. One of the most interesting things I learned is that something exists called " anti-IgE " which is being developed to counteract reactions before they start (sort of a safety net). This is a book I want to have my own copy of because I want to read it with highlighter in hand. Here's the link to Amazon. Beware... the hardcover is expensive but the paperback is affordable. http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Managing-Childs-Allergies-Hopkins/dp/080 1884926/ref=ed_oe_p/102-5560243-0844121?ie=UTF8 & qid=1175880070 & sr=8-1 Caroline
Guest guest
I felt the same way about " The Complete Guide to Food Allergies and Intolerances " . I loved this book because it helped me tremendously with my daughter, who was getting sicker and sicker from a food INTOLERANCE, which is different from an allergy. The info I learned in there is also helping me with my son (her twin). Kristy Re: GREAT Book on Food Allergies The other day I was at our local library and a new book caught my eye...
