Guest guest
Thank you for this information! We are considering buying an I-pad for Finlay (9). We are being advised to buy a very big and expensive communication device (tellus) which is by no means as portable as an i-pad and are very reluctant to do so. Annelies [Norton AntiSpam] Re: I-pad and apps Hi Sue, My son, also named , uses an iPad as one of his methods of communicating. He does use the Proloquo2Go app- and it is, in my opinion, well worth the money. Especially compared to what other speech generating devices cost. I will say that I customized his app to mimic the layout of the device he used (and continues to use) for the last 4 years, the Dynavox and this has helped with his buy in of the app as he was most comfortable with the language system of Gateway on the Dynavox. We feel strongly that a total communication approach is important and we encourage any and all means of communication, so the P2G is just another really great tool to have in the toolbox. If you haven't already, check out the community forum boards on the P2G website...www.proloquo2go.com as there are many really great ideas for implementing this app and some very knoweldgeable parents/users, etc. who participate on the board who can help you better make your decision. Other apps I really love: Sentence Builder Spell Board Spell Blocks Kid Calc ASL Signs Word Magic Brain POP Kid Art Glow Draw Pocket Phonics I Hear Ewe ( loves to make us laugh with the animal noises) Hope this helps.... Guest guest
, We all went together and got Lindsey a touch screen computer. It didn't work well for her. Not a good fit. Take too long for her to get to where she wants to go. Anyway, the company agreed to take it back which is what we all decided to do. Now we have to figure out which I-Pad is the right one. Any suggestions from you or anyone else in the group would be appreciated. So confused. I am very excited to hear what apps are working for everyone... We have many of these listed... but pop up books with sounds are a favorite...and music is a favorite... I am really amazed at how well he is doing with the ipad... need more ideas!!! ________________________________ To: polymicrogyria Sent: Mon, January 24, 2011 5:45:32 PM Subject: Re: I-pad and apps Thanks Krista.
