Guest guest
Thought my experience may help. We had to go through three other SSRI's until we found that celexa worked best for our son. The three we went through had extremely noticeable reactions (sleepless nights, increased OCD, and aggression) just as you are suggesting in your posting. Dr. G didn't stop trying the gamet of SSRI's until we found the right one for our son, and he will do that with you as well. A realistic expectation might be three or four months at the latest before you find the right one for you child. Just so you know, though, it was worth it. Once we found the right fit, so many positive behaviors came from it (eye contact, babbling, and affection). Good luck. Guest guest
Cheryl, We have always been instructed to give the SSRI in the morning. Kristy Zoloft help We started Gryffin on Zoloft two days ago and I'm not sure if this is a sign that it's not the right one or if I just need to give it a few days. Last night was his 2nd dose and he didn't sleep for longer than 3 hour intervals. He also wouldn't go to sleep until 1am. He woke up again at 4, went back to sleep at 5 and woke up again at 7. The only way I could even get him to sleep was to give him melatonin. Is this just something to work through or do I need to switch? Has this happened to anyone else? I'll call Dr. G tomorrow but since it's Sunday, I was hoping to get some information before then if anyone has any. Thanks, Cheryl
Guest guest
That's interesting because on the bottle it says to give it to him before bed time. I'll try bringing the time down. Thanks. Guest guest
He may be having a reaction to the Zoloft, my son took it for over a year and it made him very sleepy after he took it so we always gave it at night. I can't remember what the side affects were, but I do remember it takes at least 2 weeks of taking it to see if the med will work or make a difference. Guest guest
My son became an insomniac on Zoloft. Dr G switched us off it after just 3-4 days. > > We started Gryffin on Zoloft two days ago and I'm not sure if this is > a sign that it's not the right one or if I just need to give it a few > days. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone for your help. We figured out the problem and he is doing much better. I spoke with on Monday and she told me I am *not* supposed to give it at night and that the pharmacy screwed up. So we backed it down to the morning and things are going much smoother. I have some choice words for the pharmacy, though! Cheryl On Apr 10, 2007, at 11:27 AM, thefamily007 wrote: > Mine did too.
