I believe Dr. G is okay with IVIG.

He's not OK with IVIG (feels there is a risk of transmitting disease, I

think) but is OK with the intramuscular shots if done for the right reasons

(they have never been known to transmit disease).

I specifically asked DR G about gammaglobulin for my son and one

thing he said is he does not like to use it in every patient as

treatment because it can push things higher that are already

overactive. But he was going to try it for us if the antivirals did

not help. (as I recall) My son did not have a high ASO.

Side note: Hubby is one of three brothers. All 3 were hospitalized

as infants with very high fevers. All I know is " their blood went

bad " (don't know specifically what that means but really wonder

about strep) and all were given gammaglobulin. This would have been

in the mid 1960's.
