Guest guest
nies 10yo HF adhd pdd Aspergers. It has been over two years so far on Strattera, no side effects, accept has trouble eating his lunch at school. Other than that, everything is going quite well for him. His school grades have gone up, attention span, and eye contact as well. But I must tell you he rigorously trains three time a week which keeps him grounded and helps also. With that he takes vitamins A6 and magnesium. It's working for us. He is a little on the light side but eats well and exercise tends to keep him there. It takes 4 to 6 weeks to get into balance. You may need it to be tweaked then by your Dr. Every child is differant, s on 40mg. He's been at that dose for one and half years on that same doseage. We tried going down to 30 mg. but it messed him up and raised it back to 40. Guest guest
~~ DEFINITELY give it at night time. We misunderstood and gave it to our son in the morning, and whoa! He's been taking it for several months now and is much more focused. All the best~~ Rose For those who have tried STRATTERA > >I was just looking for some feedback of positives and negatives when >your kids started Strattera. What side effects should I look out >for? Guest guest
We start out at evening, then move to morning because he was not doing as well at afternoon. I think it depends on the child. Also will take about 2 week to settle in. Jin > > ~~ > DEFINITELY give it at night time. We misunderstood and gave it to our son in the morning, and whoa! Guest guest
My older son (ADHD) was on Ritalin and moved to Concerta last spring. The Concerta was giving him bad headaches so we switched to Strattera. During that time, we had to wean him off the Concerta so that he was taking a small amount of Strattera (18 mg) and a small amount of Concerta (10 mg). He was fantastic with this combination. When we finally dropped the Concerta and boosted the Strattera to 43 mg (one 25 mg + one 18 mg), things didn't work out. I found that it just didn't help curb his hyperactivity. So I asked my doctor if we could go back to the 18 mg of Strattera and 10 mg of Concerta combo. He said it was fine and, in fact, probably better to be on low doses of two meds than on a higher dose of one. He said that this approach had been adopted recently in the U.S. but was fairly new in Canada. My son has been on this combo since the end of October and so far, so good. The only side effect we have seen is that he sometimes isn't hungry at lunchtime. We saw that on Ritalin and Concerta as well. Guest guest
We tried strattera on my son, 2 different times. The results were not positive. --- Rhoda Boyd <rboyd@...> wrote: > My older son (ADHD) was on Ritalin and moved to > Concerta last spring. Guest guest
I have heard others say that it works much better if taken in the a.m. Each child responds differently, I guess. --- Rose <Momusic45@...> wrote: > ~~ > DEFINITELY give it at night time. Guest guest
Our son was o.k. until Dr. G. increased his Strattera dose up to 40 mg. ( weighs 188 lb!). He took on side effects that are not commonly known, such as difficulty urinating, intense thirst, and frequent urination, in addition to agitation. He then had his first grand mal seizure, at age 15. We have been reducing the dose are now down to 18 mg. and I honestly am not sure he is better off than before we tried it at all. Dr. G. feels the seizure was not caused by Strattera but may have pushed him over the edge with additional brain irritation. I am not happy about the whole situation as we must now move forward on a structural MRI. By the way, he has only taken it in the eve. mary
