Guest guest
My son has been on valtrex for days and no apparent die offs. The only thing that I see is that he is biting under his lower lip since starting the med and causing chapping. Is die off typically up to days? Cheryl Lowrance <c.lowrance@... These are all common die off symptoms but you should still call Dr. G's office to let him know in case he wants to change the dose or change meds. Also, make sure you are washing off the blue dye. Guest guest
He's already coming out of it and feeling much better. I have been washing off the blue dye because my younger son is sensitive to it. Thanks for all the help. Guest guest
My son had a low grade fever 100.9 on the evening of day 8 on valtrex which also led into the evening the following day. During the day of day 9 he had no apparent fever. But at school the teachers said he was unusually quiet and a little unattentive. day 10 no fever but after he woke up in the morning he screemed/schreeched/cried for about an hour. This is not typical behavior for him. Is this die-off? I don't see any big difference yet. How long does it typically take before you see a change with valtrexafter die-of, if that was in fact what that was? Guest guest
Die off can last a month, I know of one case where it lasted 60 days before they saw gains. If he's in pain, you might try giving him motrin. It's not comfortable. Emotional, whiny, aggressive, etc. can all relate to die off. I obviously can't tell you with 100% certainty that you are in fact, going through die but it sounds like it from what you are saying. Is he a patient of Dr. G? cheryl On Apr 19, 2008, at 6:42 PM, jessica nove wrote: > My son had a low grade fever 100.9 on the evening of day 8 on > valtrex which also led into the evening the following day. Guest guest
We experienced no die off - but we did see results. They were slower and more subtle, but I believe the antivirals are the 'core' treatment, even though other meds brought out the more dramatic immediate changes. My kid does that bottom lip chew w/chapping, too, but he even does it without the antivirals. It comes and goes, and develops chapping that looks like a second bottom lip lol. Actually both boys do (less so and less chapping on my youngest) and I've never figured it out. It just stops and goes away. Dunno why. --- jessica nove <jesnove5@...> wrote: > My son has been on valtrex for days and no apparent > die offs. Guest guest
, My daughter does this too. Burt's Bees lip balm (in the yellow tube), applied VERY thickly, usually clears it up overnight. Guest guest
I chuckled when I read that you use BB's. I use BB religiously in this house and if I kiss my son after having just put it on I hear " HOT, HOT, HOT! " while he's frantically trying to wipe it off his lips! He gets chapped lips, too. My NT son loves it but Gryffin doesn't seem to care too much for the tingles... Cheryl On Apr 20, 2008, at 9:05 AM, Kristy Nardini wrote: > , > > My daughter does this too. Guest guest
*We use Lansinoh - it's /perfect/ - NO heat, NO questionable ingredients, NO taste... just pure lanolin. It comes in a purple tube and is meant for nursing mothers - great clue here... it's safe enough for infants! By-the-way, I'm very sensitive to wool - but have absolutely NO reaction to Lansinoh. You might want to give it a try. It's over the counter anywhere, ~Rhonda* Cheryl Lowrance wrote: > > I chuckled when I read that you use BB's.
