Guest guest
my daughter was originally on celexa and we tried prozac with success initially, as w/ the celexa, but then after several months she became excessively hyper and now we are back w/ celexa. celexa works best for my 12 year old daughter. michele
Guest guest
Nothing seems to work for either of my boys so far. I have heard that if your child tends toward hyperactivity that prozac is not a good fit. Was your child tending toward h.a. and if so, did itmake it worse? Anyone else out there have a good fit with Prozac even tho there was hyperactivity? Barb --- atlantickayaker <atlantickayaker@...> wrote: > My oldest guy (now 16)does great on Prozac. Guest guest
No, my oldest that does good with Prozac was never hyper, he was always zoned out. Now my middle guy, who was bouncing off the walls at 23mo when he became nids/autism injured, he did horrible on prozac. We have jumped around with everything, we have settled into zoloft, sm amt of effexor, tennex, and have used wellbutrin forever, but we will be trying strattera soon to see if its better then wellbutrin. We have some ocd issues, onset way back when, now I am wondering if its the effexor? Dr. G said he wanted to try and kick that one to the curb. I hate change outs but we have never really cracked the case on this child....its been really frustrating. Barb Katsaros <barbkatsaros@...> wrote: Nothing seems to work for either of my boys so far. Guest guest
Hi - As a adult, I've tried several types of SSRIs over the past 10 years, and Effexor was the only one I ever tolerated for any length of time. Then I was switched to Zoloft when I had a PANDAS " attack " , and it initially helped with the OCD, but seriously slowed my brain the longer I was on it. I also developed a restrictive eating disorder that is associated with too much serotonin - but only according to one paper I saw... but I did stop the Zoloft and the eating problems disappeared. And who knows if it's really too much seratonin, or hyperperfusion? (I'm pretty hyper sometimes too when I'm not completely fatigued.) I often wonder if my son eventually built up too much serotonin too, because when we had to d/c him off the Zoloft (nobody locally really wanted to continue it), when the dose dropped to half, there was a return to how I had seen him when we first decided we liked the Zoloft. I really have no idea and don't want to jump to that conclusion, but the question hasn't left my mind. Just my experience ... love Effexor! Adults who haven't liked other SSRIs may want to give it a try if you're a bit ADD as well. It was very helpful for just about everyone in our family at the lower doses, but as soon as any of us upped the dose past 75, other problems would pop up. Hope that helps, but it'll probably make everybody worry instead. I think it would be pretty rare, though. --- nancy ballard <atlantickayaker@...> wrote: > > We have some ocd issues, onset way back when, now > I am wondering if its the effexor?
