Guest guest
Pearl - Dr K removed my belly button and I get a kick out of it now that I hear an occasional reference to lining something up " at your belly button " and being able to comment that I don't HAVE one! Don't miss it either. He also did a mons lift while doing the hernia & panni. All included - no extra cost. At " our " age it will take some time for you to recover. Just be sure to take your regular supplements and keep up the vegies & proteins and you'll do great! Some sort of oil on the scars should promote healing once the incisions are closed/healed. I had told him I wanted a breast reduction and he told me I wanted a breast lift - which he performed later. I was greatly reduced - and greatly lifted (too high). But he was learning at the time (2 1/2 yrs ago) and probably has it perfected by now. Bobbe in Paso Robles. 10-19 yrs old=152. Highest=285 & 24/3X. 3/03 DS=268 down to 137.5/12-14. Today=155/14. Will settle for 148!
Guest guest
Jo, I have had part of my stomach numb for several years now, due to previous surgery that cut the nerves. I have to watch myself and make sure I check myself in the mirror before my shower as I have accidentally bumped into a hot pan and severly burned my stomach several times. I have had some of the itching on occassion. Not bad. I guess I am just so excited about getting rid of this hanging mass Yes, I did know about the shoe size. It doesn't seem right does it, when you look at your arm it just doesn't seem like your foot is that big. Or for me it doesn't. My friend told me something about each joint on the fingers being an inch long that I haven't checked out. She said she uses it when she quilts to make sure she turns the right amount under. She said her friend can't believe how she can be so even without a tape measure. I haven't checked that one out. Your body has really turned out well, and I fully believe mine will too. I am going into it with a positive attitude. I did when I had the DS and I really believe I had about as good of a result as anyone could have. I am sure happy with it. My family is happy with it for me. So that is all that matters. They are encouraging me to be the best I can be. Healthwise. They love me regardless of how I look. My heart is still the same. Looks come and go and at my age I sure know they go. So health is now my quest. I didn't chase that earlier. Pearl
Guest guest
Pearl I haven't regretted or missed my hanging tummy for a second. I have (out of habit) tried to lift it to clean under it...lol. After I had my tummytuck I started to MENTALLY and EMOTIONALLY realize I was thinner. It took about a year after the tuck for me to really think of myself as a normal sized person. I know that you didn't do the DS to become THIN or (lol) sexy. But it is nice when the body and the Mind start to meld. Plus, not to have a smelly rash again...priceless! Your mention of the elbow, bellybutton, waist relationship sent me straight to a mirror to see how mine lined up. My elbow does hit at the smallest place on my torso, the belly button is about an inch below that. I took a peek at my Niece (who has a great body, flat tummy) Her elbow hit exactly at her waistline curve, and her belly button was about an inch lower. I yanked up my nephews shirt. His elbow hit at a waist dent but the bellybutton was about 2-3 inches lower. My husband was next. His elbow hit high on his torso, but it did dent there and his bellybutton was 4-5 inches lower. Thought you would be interested in my mini-belly-button survey. Did you know your foot is as long as your forearm, elbow to wrist? Without a belly button for a consistent place to measure, I think using the elbow would be a great place. And it does appear to be a more accurate indicator of waistline than the bellybutton. I don't think you will regret the tuck...especially since your having a hernia repair anyway...you might as well heal once and have the reward of a flat tummy. But do expect the tummy to feel " weird " because of numbness and itching especially the first couple years. By the way that itching is part of healing and can be real and phantom. Weird you can scratch in one spot and feel it someplace else. During the first couple years it felt yucky when I washed dishes and my belly rubbed the counter...solved by taking a 1/2 step back...lol. Guest guest
Pearl, you will NOT regret the TT for one split-second! Trust us! Like Jo, I still occasionally try to stick my finger in my belly button to pull the over-hang up to wash under it. My TT was 3.5 years ago. 5 Dec will be my 4 year anniversary of the DS. I saw Dr. K today and yes, I do have another hernia. If he doesn't have to put mesh in it, he's going to do the thighs and love handles/dog ears (as he calls them) and remove every spare centimeter of the pubic fat. Woo Hoo! Guest guest
Thanks for being excited for me, Pearl. Dr. wants to do the repair as soon as possible. I'll have to withdraw from the quarter though, if the surgery is soon. I'd like to have it done well before the holiday season begins (ok, it's already started as so many places already have Christmas decorations out). Hernias are our friend, though, Pearl. The insurance will pay for the repair and the hospitalization SOOOOOOO we get to have other things done at the same time on the insurance's dime. I keep hearing people talk about repeatedly getting hernias, is there a reason?
