Guest guest
Staci, I don't really know... it seems logical that it would help, but I think you might want to call Dr. G's office quickly today and get a heads up on what to do if he comes down with it. Since our kids don't seem to handle herpes viruses very well you need to be able to act quickly if you need to, and with the weekend starting this is your last chance (before the weekend) to find out what to do. Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. I did call and he said that the Famvir should help him not to get it, or at least not to get it so bad if he is infected, and to let them know what happens. He has two suspicious " bites " tonight, so I guess we will find out in the morning. Thanks again Staci -- Re: Chicken Pox and Famvir Staci, I don't really know... it seems logical that it would help, but I think you might want to call Dr. G's office quickly today and get a heads up on what to do if he comes down with it. Guest guest
My son was exposed to Chicken Pox twice while on Famvir and didn't get it either time. Last year, when he was off Famvir, he got them! Whether it helped or not is hard to say for sure, but I think it did. Guest guest
Rhoda and Staci, I'm wondering if your sons were vaccinated against chicken pox? Because I have heard that they can still get chicken pox even if vaccinated. I have also heard that it's not such a bad thing to get chicken pox, and that it can prevent worse virus outbreaks (like shingles) in adulthood. Does anyone have info on this? Guest guest
My son was not vaccinated against chicken pox. I'm glad all three of my kids have had them, because it is supposed to be much tougher on them if they contract it when they're older. My son did not seem to be any better off or any worse when he had them -- just a typical case like his siblings. Guest guest
My son was vaccinated against chicken pox and so were all the other 2nd graders that are coming down with it. They think maybe there was an ineffective batch. He had no more spots this morning, so maybe the Famvir will take care of it.
