Guest guest
Hello All, My son has struggled with GERD and bowel issues since he was an infant. He is now four and still is having issues. We have been to the GI doc who prescribed Prevacid for the GERD and Miralax for constipation. We are yet to find a balance with the Miralax as he either remains constipated or starts to have frequent bowel movements which result in a painfully irratated behind. I feel so helpless because I know it must be really uncomfortable for him. I have also tried Culturelle (probiotic) which seems to give him loose BMs. His diet is fairly consistent w/fruit, oatmeal, milk, water, juice, chicken, veggies, crackers, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks, , Mom to (4) BPP, Sophia (12)

Guest guest
Hello ! I wish I had some good advice for you, but all I can really say is that you that you are not alone! My son Eli is 6 and has struggled with the same problem. We have been using the miralax in varied doses for over a year, and the problem persists. He is still not potty trained either, and I feel that this issue is part of what is making potty training so hard. I'm sure the poor kid feels he just does not have enough control over this, so he doesn't even want to try! Sometimes he goes for 4 to 6 days at a time without a BM, and other times he has them in very small amounts several times a day. I also feel that his seizures cause some incontinence too, although since he is still wearing pull-ups it is hard to tell if it happened during the seizure or before! Eli's bottom gets sore too, but other than using desitin or a similar type of baby butt cream, I don't have any great answers. I know it is very frustrating! If anyone else has been to a GI who had a solution for this issue, I would be happy to hear it also! Mom to Eli(6)BFPP, Melody (12), and Lydia (3)- very understanding and tolerant sisters! > > Hello All, > > My son has struggled with GERD and bowel issues since he was an infant.
