Guest guest
Long story, in summary members of my family (14 yr old with ASD, 15 yr old NT and myself) have all presented with migraine indifferent forms - including the more continuous sort. ASD son won't take medication, but my other son and myself respond really well to medical herbal medecine - and not at all well to conventional medecine. For my 15 year old the best simple combination is ginkgo (for circulation) and chromium (for fluctuating sugar levels). With this combination he went from being in bed for 2 to 3 days a week to virtually no problems at all. I suspect that the herbal medcine you use should be based on the causes of the migraine rather than simply migraine itself. A good medical herbalist would be able to assess that in relation to a person's total health picture.
Guest guest
I had horrible migraines from the onset of puberty until the end which was around 23 or 24. They were hormone related. *Nothing* helped them. I didn't find out they were hormone related until I stopped having them and got them again when I got pregnant. I put 2 and 2 together at that point. I tried *a lot* of things at that time and nothing did anything for them. The only thing that brought a tiny bit of comfort was ice packs, cold face masks and a super cold milkshake, if I could keep it down. I was light sensitive, sound sensitive, double over in the fetal position crying on my bed (or a cold tile floor) wishing I could just drill a hole in my head to relieve the pressure. I had triggers but I also got random migraines, too. My biggest trigger was not eating immediately when I was hungry. Looking for triggers is a good way to keep them to a minimum. I would keep a diary of foods. Smells would also trigger them so if your son can keep a diary on that it may help. Imitrex was only available as a shot at the time I was having them so I don't know if it would've worked for me and I never actually tried any herbal medicine. I was too poor to see an ND!
