See below for link to NYTimes opinion piece by Krugman about the Medicare bill

and politics in DC this week. He gives an outline of how the politics of

Medicare balance out the payments to the physicians vs the privatization of Medicare

with the payments to the insurance companies that started picking up pace a few

years ago.I thought it was interesting and good to see how the last few

years have led to this months stupidity. For those who don't know him,

Krugman is an economist at Princeton and writes a column twice weekly for

NYTimes. I read him regularly (as well as the conservative voices at NYTimes

opinion page .. Bill Kristol and for example... previously

Safire too before he retired and became a patient for Jon Bertman to use to

demonstrate AC functions! ;-)Anyway, Krugman has been writing about the

housing bubble and the impending mortgage crisis for about 4-5 years at least.

That's an example where his economics stats and projections were triggering a red

flag that so many folks in the country weren't paying attention to. Now,

Medicare and health costs is a big one for him.Tim---------------------------- NYTimes.com: Kennedy's Big DayFrom: chasqui@...Date: Fri, July 11, 2008 7:36 amTo: tmalia@...------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
