If anyone could enlighten me to the use of other medications such as Riserdol or

Clonidien in conjunction with Dr. G's protocol. We have been insisting with no

prevail that our son needs to be on something else, such as an ADHD or

Antipsychotice med, due to his persistent, extreme impulsive/OCD behavior.

After three years with , Dr. G still refuses even though we see it as such a

huge missing piece. After reading some of the emails, I noticed other children

are taking such meds. Anyone care to share their experience please?

compared to what he used to be. At one time he was on Zoloft and then Resperdal

and he was a monster on these meds.

Have you had a neurospect scan done on your son? We had one, then Dr. G px'd a

SSRI.

Interesting. Dr. G, I thought, gives him the SSRI for hyperactivity, and the

Tenex for impulsivity. His current Tenex dose is 1/8 tab twice/day.

Re: Tenex & Impulsivity

I have never associated Tenex with impulsive behavior. Dr G has

always asked about " hyperness " with my son, and given it for that, so

I thought. After the neurospect, and the scan showed deep profusion

in the brain, we continued on Tenex.

Just us, but I can associate my son's irritability with strep and

prolonged antibiotics is the only thing that has ever helped that.

What is the current Tenex dose?

Hi-

How Kristy said was how I remember it, too - that the

Tenex was given to counteract the hyperactivity.

Don't know how accurate this is, but the image I

developed from his explanations was like... SSRI

increases some bloodflow into areas that have

previously been rather constricted (think

inflammation, oxidative stress, etc). Other areas

deeper in the brain may have some temporary (or not so

temporary, and probably even already existing)

" backup " of bloodflow (hyper-perfusion). Even before

the SSRI this is likely often present ... I think the

paper he had published mentions some of these? Or the

slideshow on his website... Anyway, those those

areas are associated in part w/anxiety, hyperness,

impulse control? Maybe OCD?

Either way, the Tenex is a vasodilator and helps

improve the blood flow.

I also noticed strep and food alleriges causing my son

to react. Soy lecithen is the worst trigger for my

son as far as hostility, anger, aggression. If soy

protein is a trigger (often overlooked because it

seems to have to 'buildup' in the system 5+ days and

takes 3-5 days to get out), often pupil dilation

(about half - the kind noticable by momma but not

doctor). I'm sure you're tracking eosiniphils for

allergies, but the soy doesn't seem to affect those in

my son.

All in all, I was thrilled w/Tenex. BUT I had to hunt

down the white generics because the pink dye - tiny

pill that is was - always set my boys off. That

little trace of pink dye is just murder in our

household.

Hope this helps...

Not sure if this helps, but Dr. G told us he uses the Tenex for hyperactivity.

As I rembember, he said he likes Tenex in replacement of stimulant, ADHD meds...
