Welcome to the group! So sorry to hear that you are having such a difficult time.

I am pretty new to hypothyroidism. I was diagnosed a few months ago. I'm sure others will answer soon.

Has your doctor been lowering your dose of Synthroid due to a low TSH? If so, it might be time to change doctors. You really need a doctor that will treat according to your symptoms being under control.

Hello:I just found this wonderful Texas Thyroid Board! I live in Mexia just outside of nowhere! Actually, it is between Dallas and Houston.I had a TT in May/2006 along with removal of one parathyroid. The pathology came back with a surprise diagnosis of Medullary cancer. Both the endo and surgeon were glad that the total thyroid was removed.I must say that recovering from surgery was nothing compared to trying to get the correct amount of thryoid hormone. I started out on Synthroid .125 - then on Synthroid .112 and now on Synthroid .100. I just had my blood tested (and faxed to me) after being on Synthroid .100 for 5 weeks. I don't know what some of these results mean, but can someone assist?I go to the endo tomorrow and would like to be armed with some - even if a little - knowledge.TSH 0.228 (0.350-5.500)Thyroxine (T4) 8.8 (4.5-12.0)T3 Uptake 35% (24-39%)Free Thyroxine Index 3.1 (1.2 - 4.9)Is T3 uptake the same as Free T3?I am still crying a couple of times a week and sleep like a dead person at least 12 hours at night. I do feel a whole lot better than when I was on .125. I am not losing weight at all although I am doing the Atkins diet and following it to the letter. My husband has lost weight and we are eating the same things - only he eats more volume.I might have to buy a new whole wardrobe if this continues - I already had to purchase new underwear!Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks,
