Guest guest
Hi Jerri- Actually from knowing bits of history of issues off the list, there's a great deal more discouragement and negative experiences some have suffered that we never even hear about while the parent coalition has struggled to do so much for years... it has likely built up and this particular conversation in itself would never have that effect... it's other things behind the scenes... parents coalition has been struggling against a very difficult situation in trying to find any viable option for bringing about better research, and there have been several devastating experiences. You can even read Dr Goldberg's hopes and despair in some posts on this list and on the conference board on his website over the last few years to get an idea of the overwhelming emotional impact this has had on the people truly trying to make things happen, only to be butting up against forces that keep setting everything back. So much time is being lost and everyone feels desperate. It's been a very rough road for all of us, but particularly difficult for those in really deep. If we knew all the details, I can assure you could understand the intensity of the emotions involved. And we parents are nothing if not passionate. Cheryl's passion has driven her to significant contributions that will last with us. Nobody is giving up, although it is common for some to drift apart and share their passion in a more hospitible environment. Wherever that is, I'll follow that list, too. --- Jerri Gann <njgann@...> wrote: I have had people completely disagree with > my opinions and completely rebuff me but I don't say > I will never talk to them again. It's possible that during especially trying times, someone unknowingly hit an invisible bulls eye or two. My recent posts may have seemed excessive, too political, or connected to our children only in an abstract way. The posting eruption probably has more to do with the underlying theme than the obvious corruption, deception, or our children dealing with increasingly negative environmental exposures. The one thing I've always emphasized, and the one thing that has kept me going regardless of everything else, has been my faith in science. If we can't even trust that most of the scientific information we read is uncorrupted.....how will we be able to trust that science will give us the answers we need? Guest guest
I know what you mean, or at least how I interpret it with my own feelings. I trust little. On my regular theme of OCD regarding food, I don't believe one BIT the guidelines that the giant American Heart Association puts out about cholesterol and all it's evils. I don't believe in low fat diets. I don't believe Canola oil is one bit good for you. I don't believe we should use so much vegetable oil. The science behind these recommendations has always been weak, and there is actually very little to support such widespread recommendations. --- Cheryl B <clbro66@...> wrote: > > The one thing I've always emphasized, and the one > thing that has kept me > going regardless of everything else, has been my > faith in science. > > If we can't even trust that most of the scientific > information we read is > uncorrupted.....how will we be able to trust that > science will give us the > answers we need? > Cheryl > > > __________________________________________________
