Well, he was ready to just dive in and take over my yeast issue. I thought about it and called the next day to tell him that I didn't feel I needed to change something that was working so well and that I would stay on the diet my nutritionist has me on and continue to see her. Drs. tend to see all the problems that I have and want to just fix me. I told him I don't want to be treated like a cookie-cutter patient and that I need him to address my concerns separately and not be treated like "everyone else." It never works for me, hence, Synthroid and the millions of people it is not working for.

To compromise, I did get a prescription for diflucan (heavy duty dosage). I also told him that what I needed was a good thyroid dr. and that I wanted him to focus on that issue and all that goes with it. I think that covers enough problems :)

He also said (and I hate when drs. do this) that he would have me off all the meds someday, like he could fix me. I think it would be nice, but I try to be realistic. I did agree to stop the prevacid and slowly decrease the zoloft, which I didn't feel was working anyway. He was willing to prescribe me xanax (which I was already taking) to help with my anxiety until I started the Armour, which I am hoping will help with the anxiety.

He has me tracking my temperature and the ph of my urine, as I have interstital cystitis. I would like to get off of those meds too. He takes a homeopathic, or whole body, approach....hence, the disliking for prescription drugs. But, he can and will prescribe them as needed, he is a pcp.

He is also a Christian. We talked about the need for faith when dealing with medical problems. He will often quote bible verses while trying to encourage you. He even prayed with a friend of mine.

I will post how the next visit goes. He does not take insurance and charges a set $ amount per minute. I think I paid $180 for an hour, so $3/minute. I am going to file claim with insurance myself. Also, he does bloodwork there OR will give you a lab slip to take to LabCorp.

Re: Nutritionist

Since I am on the hunt for a new doctor, I looked up Dr. Manso. Do you like him??? Does he seem knowledgeable. You said he is gung ho" What do you mean?? What does he charge?

Thanks

Steph
