Guest guest
Hello, We saw Dr. Goldberg for the first time last week, and started (age 5 & 1/2) on the diet on Sunday. He's done relatively well, but is having some real transition issues with his lunch routine at school, now that he can't have milk (which is the first stop in the lunch line), and I'm sending lunch from home (he was having school lunch fairly often each week). He had a full fledged temper tantrum yesterday (which he's never done), and had to be removed from the lunchroom. His aide and the principal removed him from the lunchroom, and the Spec Ed coordinator and K teacher wrote a social story, and took him through a " rehersal " of how lunch would now work, once the lother kids were done. They will use the social story and the rehersal again today. Just wondering if anyone had any tips or methods that worked for them when transitioning the kids off of milk - the routine change is the worst for him, I think. I did also remind his team that a " time out " is appropriate if they see him start to lose it. Thanks! Alaine
