Guest guest
Hi Sharolyn, My son also appears to be jaundiced but actually was not converting beta-carotene into vitamin A. This was a result of hypothyroidism, secondary to pituitary dysfunction. You should check your son's thyroid function and schedule an appt. with an ped. endocrinologist. IMHO Take care, >From: " sharolyn68 " <Sharolyn68@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Yellow skin >Date: Thu, 28 Sep 2006 01:36:49 -0000 > >Hi all! My son has been on the protocol since May 2006. Guest guest
This probably isn't the case, but has he been eating a lot of carrots or drinking carrot juice or even sweet potatoes? I knew someone who had orange hands from drinking carrot juice... it was little weird! I would definitely get him in to the doc on this one to check it out, though... even if he has been eating lots of carrots! Caroline
Guest guest
Yes my 1st guess would be liver function and best to rule this out with a lab test. Like you said, I would follow up with a phone call to the office. > > Hi all! My son has been on the protocol since May 2006. He is 8 > yrs old and nonverbal. The day before yest. Guest guest
I would defiantly take him to the doctor to have a liver function test. It is a blood test. I have had liver dysfunction myself and it makes you feel horrible. I was tired and itching in strange places. Guest guest
I took my oldest tot he doctor because he turned orange when he was a baby. I started giving him carrots and squash because he has albinism and at the time was legally blind and so I wanted to get the carotene in him for eye development. When the Ped. Saw him he exclaimed, " What are you feeding him. " I told him and he began to laugh but the scolded me and told me to tapper off a bit before he was florescent. Guest guest
I confess that I have been taking beta carotene. But I finally ordered the Garden of Life cod liver oil and Natural Factors halibut liver oil last week, so I will switch over to these as my source of real vitamin A - i.e., retinol. Thanks for shedding light on my yellow skin problem. > > > > Since starting on this program a couple of weeks ago, I've noticed that my skin has taken on a yellow hue. I've also been losing a lot of hair. I know that others have mentioned the hair loss issue, but I didn't know about yellow skin. Is this a normal healing reaction? > > +++Hi , > > I haven't heard of anyone's skin turning yellow as a healing or detoxifying symptom. > > Are you taking Beta Carotene supplements of any kind, which is vitamin A from plants, since it can cause the skin to be yellow to orange? If not, see your doctor. Let me know what happens. > > Cheers, Bee >
Guest guest
Just curious, how much beta carotene were you taking and for how long...? Blessings, Margaret
Guest guest
10,000 IU - I've been taking this amount for several years, but the yellow skin is a relatively new problem. > > > > Just curious, how much beta carotene were you taking and for how long...? > > Blessings, Margaret > > > > >
Guest guest
Do you think you should just check in with your doctor to make sure it isn't jaundice?
