Guest guest
For many phone consults now, Dr G has been saying " go back " to the old CD-roms and tell the SLP to " go back " and be sure my son has the basics of speech he missed when his brain was not working as well. I need help doing this if anyone has tips. I have done some of this with some games/books. But I do not realize until we are in a situation that my son is stumped. Example: We were at the library yesterday, and my son wanted to play in the computer lab. He went to the desk where you sign up for a computer. He waited in line (better than ever). The lady behind the desk said May I help you. He said " I would like a computer " She asked his name He said Jack She asked him " what grade are you going into " Silence She said " are you going to be in kindergarten? " He said " I just was in Kindergarten " She said " so, are you going to be in 1st grade? " He said " Yes! " So here is my question... Do you think he did not understand " what grade are you going into " ? Something about this phrasing? He knows darn well he is going to be in 1st grade. Even today I asked....what grade are you going to be in next year? He said 1st grade. Or could he not " picture the future " ? This communication is our biggest hurdle...I need to be doing something different but not exactly sure what. If anyone else has expeienced similar communication issues would love some pointers, for me and the SLP. Thanks a bunch
