Guest guest
Hi-my son has pdd and he also does a poor job of brushing his teeth! He, like most pdd kids has sensory issues with the toothbrush in his mouth. We found a great pedatric dentist who specializes in developmental needs kids (we live in New York). He did NOT tell us to see a psychiatrist!!! The simple answer was to have my son get his teeth cleaned every three months to remove all plaque buildup. The frequency of the visits have helped my son to get used to the dentist and he now willingly goes to the dentist and lets him clean his teeth! We had dentists in the past who would not even work on autistic patients, so we had to research and find a special dentist who would. Good luck with your search and don't give up, the right dentist is out there! Gayle ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone.
