Hi,

My generally easy going (thank God for small favors) son, has started having

tantrums and being very cranky, crying and screaming over small issues that

never bothered him before. Nothing has changed except the following...

We went from .07 to .08 on MB12 (but I highly doubt that this is the case -

we once accidentally gave 2 shots in one night (total of .1 at the time) and

there was no adverse reaction).

For 2 days in a row took severals sips of water colored w/ Crayola

markers (green and blue - which are non-toxic and GFCF).

Both of these incidents occured last Wednesday / Thursday... We have seen

some gains lately - requesting more, some spontaneous labeling to " share "

info, pointing is starting to emerge - could it be developmental? Even though

is 3.5 yrs could the slow aquisition of new skills coincide w/ a

developmental growth spurt? - could we have hit the " terrible twos " all of a

sudden (last Wed)?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks --

Dear ,

Yes, it could be developmental. My six year old has had these " bouts "

periodically. They are awful for you, I know, I've been there. My advice is

just

do whatever it takes to get through it. It will pass. Behaviorists have

always scolded me ( or worse) for this advice, but my son is improving. Not

steadily, but in leaps forward then slides backward. But he never slides back

as

far as he was and each leap is a little farther.

It sounds to me that he is doing well, by the way.

Non toxic? What are they made of?

I don't know if this could be it, but I know that my son used to react with

tantrums and stubbornness when he had colored foods.

I personally don't believe the " terrible twos " is for real. I don't believe it

is normal for a child to have tantrums. There is a reason for them. My son

stopped having tantrums " over night " when we started chelation, after I realized

that he needs more sulfur/cysteine. And if you would know how my son used to

tantrum.... you would understand what I really mean - it was a miracle :)

Unfortunately, it could probably be any of those things. MB12 shots scare me

though because I saw such a rapid decline that started similar to what you

mentioned when they increased the dosage. Also, it was the longest lasting

regression I've ever seen in a kid. If you still want to do the shots, perhaps

going back to the lower dose for a week or so to see if the emotional volatility

evens out and then retrying really slowly might be a good idea.

You might want to consider increasing your yeast protocol and/or folic

acid. One of my kids did very badly with mB12 without folic acid, he

would cry and bang his head on the floor.

The dyes would have set off my #2, they are high phenol
