Guest guest
I have insomnia, but I am not sure which ailment is responsible, because I have overlapping and mimicking conditions. I have tried Lunesta, and it did nothing for me. Then I tried Ambien. This gave m,e some help getting to sleep, but then I was aw2ake at 3am. Now, I take Ambien CR, and it helps me to sleep. This version helps to keep me asleep, rather than waking up and staying up at 2-3am. I have taken this for several months now, and I find that if I miss even one night of taking it, I am unable to sleep at all, or can only get to sleep by about 4-5am. In other words, for me--one missed dose is still monumental in whether I sleep or not. If anyone else takes Ambien, I'd be curious to hear how it helps or effects you! Guest guest
I take Ambien CR (6.25mg), meltonin, and valerian every night. The melatonin and valerian help get me ready to sleep, but without the Ambien, I wouldn't be able to sleep well or stay asleep. My experience is like yours, , one night without it is one night's sleep shot. Guest guest
, I used to take Ambien when traveling, but then I figured out that the nausea and vomiting came from the Ambien instead of the actual traveling .... so I think next I might try Lunestra. Guest guest
Lunesta did nothing for me but leave a nasty taste in my mouth in the morning. AmbienCR also did nothing for me. I have had chronic insomnia since I was about 5 years old (I am now 41) and have spent many nights in a row laying awake and wishing and praying for an end top the torture of the night time. I have taken Ambien (10 mg) for about 5 years now and enjoy a good night's sleep (good for me is about 5hours which is an eternity compared to 1-2 on a good night without the Ambien). I am also on Cymalta and Celebrex for my arthritis (have had a hip replaced 10 years ago and now need a knee replaced and surgeries on both hands) and I seem to be managing okay for now. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi, I don't have problems sleeping as I have Idiopathic Hypersomnolence but I get hot flashes during the night and they wake me up. I had the same experiences with Lunesta and Ambien. A doctor suggested that I try Melatonin 3 mg. I was hesitant at first because I'm not really into natural remedies. I took it and forgot to half the dose as I usually do with all new medications and it wiped me out. I couldn't even move the next day, but remember I have a sleeping disorder. So the next time I tried it, I halved it and it worked great. My daughter had problems going to sleep and staying asleep and she is taking it too. She doesn't have any health issues but it makes her sleep at night as well. Hope this helps.
Guest guest
I was diagnosed with FM about 2 years ago, the insomnia started in 1999. I was first prescribed Ambien, but the lower dose stopped working after a few years. When we increased the dose, I found it too hard to get up in the morning. I switched to Lunesta, and that was working fine, but with the FM I was still very fatigued and could not make it through the day without a nap (or two or three . . .). My doc suggested Provigil. I weaned off the Lunesta, and started taking Provigil in the morning. It helps me to be a bit more active during the day, therefore easier to sleep at night. If I need a little help, I take a Benedryl, but nothing stronger. Margaret
