Guest guest
Not true...not true.... 100% of all Rx's are covered by medicaid for all Rx's Dr G has written. The only snag was once on needles for IM Baygam had to get local ped to okay. Otherwise since 1999 all of my sons Rx's faxed in from Dr G have been covered by my sons medicaid!!! <thecolemans4@...> wrote: Hi Caroline - Medicaid will not reimburse to you. The physician has to accept what they pay, and they will only pay directly to that physician. In Alabama, that's about $24 for an average office visit, and they have to agree to write off the rest. Pediatric well-checks are fortunately reimbursed at a higher rate, but still nowhere near the average charge. Phone consults are never covered. But if you were only talking about meds, it depends on if you're in California and if they require a Medicaid physician to write the rx, which I don't see why they would. Medicaid will usually pay for the prescriptions, at least, but only if they are written by an in-state physician. They are (at least in AL) not covered if not prescribed by an in-state physican. Whether that doctor has to accept Medicaid in order to rx and have the meds covered, I don't know, but you could call your Medicaid and find that part out. --- Caroline Glover <sfglover@...> wrote: > I think I remember hearing that Dr. Goldberg doesn't > take Medicaid. Guest guest
I'd like this info. too! I'm in CA, and my son has the Medi-Cal waiver. Even with our insurance as primary and the Medi-Cal as secondary, we're still paying $$$. Guest guest
, do you also have another insurance? Did you have a diagnosis which allowed you to get Medicaid for your son? How recent does it have to be? I have one from a psychologist of autism, from 6 years ago. He's really more a.d.d. now with severe learning disabilities. At this point I really can't see him driving at 16, doing any kind of paid employment. School is very, very difficult, and I half homeschool him. How severe does a child need to be to qualify? Do they have the guidelines written somewhere? Barb --- & Caroline Glover <sfglover@...> wrote: > , > > That's great! Guest guest
Barb: DX of Diagnosis is perfect. Even if you didn't get medicaid right away. I would just keep with the Autism DX, you don't have to share info how he has improved under Dr. G's care. All you need is the Dx of Autism. That's all they care about. Make sure you first file for social security for your son, which they will reject him for, but you need the rejection first indorder to proceed to the Dept of Social Services to get the Medicaid Insurance. Ask your pediatrician to help you, or ask him if he will put you in the hands of another parent of a child with autism that has maneuvered thru this process. Again the magic words you are going to say to DSS is Beckett law. Barb Katsaros <barbkatsaros@...> wrote: , do you also have another insurance? Guest guest
So if I brought in a written report with the diagnosis on it, that would be enough? Or if I had the psychiatrict who made the diagnosis send a note confirming that she did that diagnosis, 6 years ago, that would do it? Thanks! Guest guest
If you have the original report from the Psychologist that should work. You probably will need something from your pediatrician confirming this as well. But that should not be a big deal. You might even be able to get Dr.G to give you this.
