Guest guest
Teacch is good for a visual schedules, or daily living skills thats about it. I've gone thru aba, vba, links to language, and teacch. I am getting trained in the Rapid Prompting Method, even though they use the " A " word as a teaching method. I am also using the italics handwriting method. These are just teaching techniques, not cures for the " A " word. I am getting ready to dump public schools and instead homeschool my 14yr old son. In addition, I will also be homeschooling my typical 16 and 8 yr old as well. > > Was there a question about TEACCH? I had my son in a TEACCH school system in NC. Guest guest
TEACCH was the " latest and greatest " therapy program in the schools when my son was first diagnosed over ten years ago. I'd imagine it's evolved a bit over the years but at that time, it was a method of teaching skills by using visual guides a student was to follow instead of a teacher or other person. The student would work alone on a particular task, following the instructions visually shown on cards. I imagine it could be helpful in a classroom to allow a teacher less distracted 1:1 time with some of the students but I don't like the way it cuts out contact with other people since that's such a big part of AS kids' challenges.
