FRIDAY, Sept. 10 (HealthDayNews) -- A homeopathic remedy applied directly to the nasal mucous membrane with a swab or with a mist under the tongue relieves allergy and allergic rhinitis symptoms, a new study claims. The one-week study of 42 people found that those who received the homeopathic nasal mist treatment reported an average 64 percent improvement in nasal symptoms such as sneezing, postnasal drip, and stuffy nose. There was an average 48 percent improvement among those who received the nasal swab. Those receiving the mist reported an average 89 percent improvement in their sleep symptoms, such as difficulty falling asleep and getting a poor night's sleep. Those who received the nasal swab reported an average 48 percent improvement in sleep symptoms. The homeopathic remedy was comprised of: arnica, histamine, luffa officinalis, euphorbium officinarium, hepar sulphuricum, bryonia, mercurius iodatus flavus, mucosa nasalis, sabadilla, lemna minor, and lachesis. The study will be presented this week at the annual meeting of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians in Seattle.
