Guest guest
Does anyone know anything about the impact of a new NYS law on benefits for autistic children? I heard about this and was wondering if therapies like speech therapy are now covered. Effective 1/1/07 Summary of the Law, New York AB 699, Ins. Law §§ 3216, 3221, 4303, prohibits every policy which provides coverage for hospital, surgical, or medical care coverage from excluding coverage for diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions otherwise covered solely because the treatment is provided to diagnose or treat autism spectrum disorder. Autism spectrum disorder is defined as " a neurobiological condition that includes autism, Asperger syndrome, Rett’s syndrome or pervasive developmental disorder. " Aetna’s Response to the Law Aetna will comply with the requirements of this law. Helene
