Guest guest
I use a lot of olive oil when appropriate and occ'ly coconut oil. As a margarine, there are milk free versions in a health food store, but Fleishman's makes a LOW SODIUM version which is also milk free. It comes in a stick form so can be used for baking or buttering bread. Barb ps: re: pretzels. as I interpret it, you only use the white processed bread or buns when it is in combination with a protein as in a sandwich or a hamburger. I wouldn't give pretzels very often, as it is gluten, and we're trying to cut back on it. What about rice cakes? My kids like them as a snack. --- nancy ballard <atlantickayaker@...> wrote: > Hey: What kind of margarine are you folks all using. > I have been using Smart Balance for years, when I > just recently noticed " whey " . Guest guest
Hi , I use Newman's Own Spelt Pretzels -- they're delicious and almost indistinguishable in taste and texture from the ones made from regular wheat flour. They taste a little like sourdough. DS loves them! Donna > > Hey: What kind of margarine are you folks all using. I have been using Smart Balance for years, when I just recently noticed " whey " . Guest guest
Forgot to mention -- if your child tolerates soy, Earth Balance Margarine is available at Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Trader Joe's, etc. Donna > > Hey: What kind of margarine are you folks all using. Guest guest
Olive oil is good. You can also use clarified butter, or ghee, that is dairy free. I would never use margarine, there are lots of studies that correlate margarine and cancer. Re: Dairy Free Diet? Bleached Flour is okay? Guest guest
Ghee isn't " dairy " free -- but it is technically *casien " free. > > > Hey: What kind of margarine are you folks all using. > > I have been using Smart Balance for years, when I > > just recently noticed " whey " . Guest guest
Wow. I had no idea the spelt had gluten. I was told by the people at Trader Joe's and at Whole Foods that spelt was gluten-free. What are the EnerG pretzels made from? They're good, but the packages are very small and expensive.
