This started out as a google of "Effects of Vitamin D on Cortisol Production", but if you can read all the way to the end, you will see the myriads of effects on the hormone cascade and so many things surrounding it, with autoimmune diseases (including ours) as part of the "leader" effects. This vitamin is now considered to be a Prohormone or maybe even a Hormone because of the way it acts in the body. I have been a night worker for several yrs now, have a disdain for the sun, with extreme eye sensitivity, plus I'm fair skinned and burn very easily. I stay out of the sun more than I'm ever in it, and it may have been the demise of my teeth. Yes, I said teeth. Even though I have taken "perfect" care of my teeth, they have been disintegrating before my eyes for the last two yrs or so, to my dismay. I think I've found my answer. The "cascade" effect. Parathyroid hormone. The deposition of calcium into the bones, including the teeth, even though my blood calcium levels are very good, maybe it's not going and staying in my bones. Look at the multiple problems that deficiency of this "vitamin" can and WILL produce, and even more so in us autoimmune, thyroid compromised people.
