Guest guest
Hi everyone! Not a great subject, but I'm desperate for some good ideas. My little guy (6 years old, low functioning) has been picking his nose a lot. He doesn't have a cold or allergies or anything (no runny nose), he just likes the salty taste of the contents. Last week he was up there so much he started a nose bleed. Now, every time he sticks his finger up his nose it just starts bleeding. Sometimes it just runs out like crazy. Someone suggested putting Vaseline up his nose and I did, which helps to stop a bad nose bleed, but he now picks out the Vaseline too. I am worried about him ingesting the Vaseline as well. Anyone have any ideas or have faced a similar situation? BTW, reasoning with him won't work. His receptive language isn't that great. I can say " Quiet hands " and he will stop, but he just can't help himself going back up there within 30 seconds of my telling him that. I try to keep his hands busy with other things as much as possible and distract him with other activities, but I can't keep that up 24/7 and so he eventually goes back for more nose picking. Help!!!
