Guest guest
At first, it took a few weeks for us to see any benefit to the antifungal. Now, when he changes, we usually see the benefit within a week or so. Others may have found that the antifungal meds have helped their constipation but they unfortunately made my son's worse. He gets extremely constipated on milk products though so I think it is the lactose in most of the antifungals that stops him up more. After years of trying various things to get him " going " , we found that Oxypowder works wonderfully. I'm not sure what the folks would think of using Oxypowder since it is a supplement. However, none of the -recommended things (Benefiber, mineral oil) worked for him and he was not gaining any weight due to the increased constipation problem. Since he started Oxypowder, he's been going regularly, feeling much better, much clearer mind and has gone from weighing 65 pounds at age 14 to 98 pounds at age 15. Guest guest
Hi , With the antifungals (Nizoral, Diflucan) my son had die-off. Whiny, screaming, wreck for several days, then much improvement in his disposition, eye contact, language, attention. has helped my son's chronic constipation by creating general and overall health. His diet is really 'clean' (he is gf, cf, sf, corn-free, preservative-free, dye-free, refined sugar-free, nitrite-free) and his body tends to be healthier since being on . Kristy Constipation - Fluconazole Please excuse my anxiety, my son is on fluconazole for a week, so far nothing change much except for a night with stomach ache and a bit bad mood. How long did it take for you to see if your kids are responding? Other question: my son´s been constipated for almost 2 years, has fluco helped with that for you? How does the protocol treat constipation? Thanks
Guest guest
Hi - It often takes two weeks and more to see an improvement, depending on how he responds of course, and what type of problem yeast might be for him. If he has an inflammatory gut reaction to yeast (like I do and believe my boys did), then it can take a bit of time for the inflammation to die down. BTW - there is no lab to test if this is the case. And sometimes our systems are so messed up that yeast isn't the only issue to be addressed, but sometimes between diet, simple single strain probiotics like acidophilus or 3 strain Kydodophilus, good diet practices, and some time, this can resolve rather well. There may be more than one trigger to address. I'd give it a month. What is the daily dose for your son? Stomach aches can happen if " things start moving " . Die off can also cause some cramping, and especially irritability. Sometimes you see nothing at all, but this does not mean that there is not an underlying benefit taking place that is going to continue to work by relieving stress off of a hot immune system, so while I wish everyone could see the " miracles " I got to see in my boys, I haven't always experienced them w/myself until I stopped the Diflucan and remembered what it used to be like. Guest guest
. We've had immediate dramatic response (son jumping wildly into the ball pit at therapy when he had been very timid about getting into it for years... therapists jaw dropped on that one!), not much response, and sort of a subtle response (talking more loudly, a little more fidgety) at different times of starting it on two boys on and off over 5 years. The best results we have seen have been in inverse proportion to the severity of the die-off. That's not to say that there has to be a big die-off for it to help. Here is a link to a medline page on it... http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/medmaster/a690002.html We still deal with constipation, maybe due to the fact that ours are both on iron as well, but we use Citrucel for that and it helps some. I read recently that Miralax is going to be over-the counter soon and that is one you could ask about... it is basically invisible to the kids having it in their favorite drink and does not " get thick " like some others. As the for the upset stomach, make sure you mention that to the doctor... not sure if anything can be done about it but maybe there could be (such as cutting back on the dose a little to ease in more slowly if the stomach upset is due to intense die-off). Good luck. Guest guest
Thanks Kristy, Caroline, , Gaylen. You cool down my anxiety ... for next 2 weeks. My son is taking 100mg/day he is about 40pnd (18kg) and 3.5yo. He is on gfcf corn, soy, aditives, preservants free diet and very low refined sugar. Actually he only eats cow meat (he craves for it, does it mean anything? tryptophane deficience?) and a bit of organic brown rice, smashed potatoes and one banana a day, that´s it. (fortunately meat is unexpensive down here ) take care > > > Please excuse my anxiety, my son is on fluconazole > > for a > > week, so far nothing change much except for a night > > with stomach ache > > and a bit bad mood. Guest guest
Hi , My son used to crave hamburgers and steak all the time, too. Lunch & dinner, that was all he wanted. He has been on iron (I give him Solgar Gentle Iron Non-Constipating) for several months, and now he eats beef a couple of times a week at the most. Guest guest
What about Aloe Vera Juice... just a few shots 3-6 oz. @ a time twice daily. This has been known to really be helpful. Guest guest
Aloe is also healing, so it *might* aid in healing the gut.
