Guest guest
Everything is going in the wrong direction!!! AUGH Before I started supplementing with DHEA, my #s were somewhere like 140 or something (about midway in the range). She wanted me to start on DHEA to try to get it a bit higher and hopefully help boost my testosterone. I started on 12.5 mg. The numbers never even budged a month later. So I was increased to 25 mg a day. 6 months later, they're at 93! Is there a reason why it would be decreasing instead of increasing? I have forgotten doses now and again and I think there was 2 weeks where I didn't take any (ran out and couldn't get to the store) but that was back in November I think. My levels are now way below what they were before I ever took any supplements at all. She said to go ahead and double the dose and we'll check it again in 6 weeks. My Free T3 went down quite a bit, too. It was I think 3.2 back in October and now it's 2.5. I told her yesterday at my appoitment I wanted it at least to 3.8 if not 4. My FT4 I think stayed pretty much the same - 0.8. These are very close to the levels were when I first started seeing Dr Owens last July. They had increased in October and now everything is dropping again. My TSH rose a tiny bit of course - it's now 0.3 (was .2). I did have my adolsterone and renin checked but those hadn't come back yet. Only thing that has come up is Ferritin. It was 18 a year ago and I started on iron supplements 4 months ago and it's 33 now. Of course, the nurse was baffled at my excitement there. She doesn't understand that I'm trying to get it higher - to her it's all normal. I was asking her for all the numbers on all the tests I did, even the normal ones and she said " We don't really look at the ones that are normal. " I told her " Well, *I* do. Just because it's in range, doesn't mean it's ok. " I still made her tell me a couple of them but then let it drop because it's hard to hear in my office sometimes. She said I could pick up my copies next visit but I'm not waiting 2 months. I'm going to call on Monday and have them mail them to me since they won't fax. My Armour was raised only slightly. I'm now 120 mgs every day (she had me only at 60 mgs on Sunday and 120 every other day). It's not enough of an increase IMO but if we're retesting in 6 weeks, I'll go ahead and do it and then demand a bit more at the next appointment. I must have left my paper with my results on it in the car but my testosterone was " normal " but on the low end so she's increasing the cream to .5 a day instead of .2. Anybody know why my numbers could be dropping like this? I do take Isocort and Iodoral (which she of course knows about). Can that affect things?
