I saw Dr. Puccillo today. had mentioned that her

daughter saw him.

Dr. Puccillo said he practiced under Dr. Holtz.

I have to say, it was only one visit, but I really like

him. He was open to changing my medication by adding more T4.

I asked about the TSH and he does not go by that.

I asked him about Free T3 and Free T4. He orders the Free T4 but doesn’t

go by the Free T3. He said that the two

Mirror themselves, so goes by the Free T4 only. My

understanding of what he said was that if one is out of whack

The other will be too, and that the T3 is so unstable in the

body that it could really range throughout the day.

He is really into the whole body working together, and uses the

Spectracell labs to check your blood for all sorts of

Things. I did not get into any of that because I told him

I want to get my thyroid medication working well before I

Explore anything else. He never once pushed any tests on

me.

I will start by taking my new dose and go back to him in 6

weeks.

It looks very promising so far.

You were taking 125

mcg of T4 and 12.5 mcg of T3 on the synthetic combination.

On 90 mg of Armour plus

50 mcg of Unithroid, you are getting just 107 mcg of T4 and 13.5 mcg of T3. I

am not surprised that your Free T4 is lower.

Since you appear to

have quite a bit of wiggle room on the T3, I would ask for an increase to 120

mg of Armour and keep the Unithroid at 50 mcg. That will give you 19 mcg more

T4 and 4.5 mcg more T3.

or, if you have

difficulty tolerating a higher dose of T3, I would ask the doc to increase the

Unithroid to 75 mcg.

In any case, I would

insist on getting a Free T3, even if you have to order it yourself from

HealthcheckUSA.
